NETGEAR® Awarded Networking Vendor of the Year Title for Second Consecutive Year by CRN in the UK
CRN Readers Vote NETGEAR as Winner of Competitive Networking Category in the Prestigious 2006 Channel Awards
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — December 21, 2006 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that it has been awarded the title “Networking Vendor of the Year” by Computer Reseller News (CRN) for the second consecutive year. The 13th Annual CRN Channel Awards, which was attended by over 1,750 channel representatives from across the UK, took place on November 23, 2006, in London’s Battersea Park Arena.
Sponsored and hosted by CRN magazine, one of the industry’s leading channel publications for solution providers and technology integrators, the CRN Channel Awards represent the industry’s most prestigious accolade. The winners of the CRN awards were chosen by the readers of CRN magazine from a shortlist of entrants selected by an independent panel of judges including market analysts and industry professionals. NETGEAR topped the networking vendor category to beat strong competition from Cisco Systems, Mitel, Nortel, and Riverbed Technology.
“The CRN Channel Awards are recognized as one of the most sought after accreditations for IT vendors, resellers and distributors, and all of the companies shortlisted should be proud of their work over the past year,” said Sara Driscoll, editor of CRN magazine. “We send our congratulations to all of the winners; the awards acknowledge their exceptional achievements and ongoing commitment to the channel industry.”
“The repeated success of NETGEAR in the Networking category further underlines the importance of channel focus,” explained Bob Tarzey, service director at research and analysis company Quocirca and one of the judges on CRN's panel. “NETGEAR's win in this category for the second year running showed that a smaller vendor can beat a giant — Cisco in this case — through dedication to the channel.”
“NETGEAR is especially excited about receiving the CRN Channel Award because of the fact that we were selected as the best vendor in the networking sector by CRN’s readership which is comprised of distributors and resellers,” explained David Soares, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Support. “NETGEAR realizes the importance of establishing and maintaining strong channel support as a critical component to building successful relationships with our channel partners. This is evidenced by our popular Powershift Reseller Program, which offers a variety of sales and technical resources and monetary incentives designed to help make our channel partners successful.”
